El Paso Grilled Turkey Patties
Like tacos without the shell, these flavourful grilled patties are delicious on a bed of lettuce and avocado.
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/4 lb (625 g) lean ground turkey
1/4 cup (50 mL) plain bread crumbs
2 tbsp (25 mL) Old El Paso* Smart Fiesta* Reduced Sodium Taco Seasoning Mix (from 35 g pouch)
1 cup (250 g) Old El Paso* Thick N' Chunky Salsa
1 medium avocado, pitted, peeled and chopped
4 cups (1 L) shredded lettuce
Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix egg, turkey, bread crumbs, taco seasoning mix and 1/4 cup of the salsa. Shape mixture into 4 patties, 1/2 inch thick.
Place patties on grill over medium heat; cover grill. Cook 10 to 12 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in centre of patties reads 160ºF.
Meanwhile, in medium bowl, mix remaining 3/4 cup salsa and the avocado. To serve, place 1 cup lettuce on each serving plate; top with turkey patty and 1/4 of avocado mixture.
