Maple Pecan Cake
 
 
 
 

Ingredients:

1 pkg (510 g) Betty Crocker* SuperMoist* Butter Pecan Cake Mix
1 cup (250 mL) water
1/3 cup (75 mL) butter or margarine, softened
3 eggs
1/2 cup (125 mL) maple syrup or maple-flavoured syrup
1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped pecans, toasted
1 tub (340 g) Betty Crocker* Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting
Chopped pecans, toasted (for garnish)

Method:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease or spray with non-stick cooking spray one 12-cup (3 L) fluted tube pan.• Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease or spray with non-stick cooking spray one 12-cup (3 L) fluted tube pan.
  • In large bowl, beat all ingredients (except frosting) with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Pour into pan.
  • Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 2 hours.
  • Place frosting in microwaveable bowl. Microwave uncovered on Medium 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Spread frosting over top of cake, allowing it to flow down sides. Garnish with additional toasted chopped pecans if desired. Store loosely covered.

Tip
To toast the pecans, spread in a shallow ungreased pan; bake uncovered in a 350ºF oven 6 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown.
